Observed events
The American Bar Association’s July 2025 practice article recommends that lawyers new to business development start with one or two client contacts and maintain manageable follow-up. Thomson Reuters Institute’s 2025 State of the US Legal Market summarizes strong 2024 demand, rates and expenses for many US firms, while also describing pressure to adapt to changing client expectations, competition and technology. One source is practice guidance; the other reports US market findings.
Interpretation
Together, these sources support a useful question: how can a firm turn its own market context and relationships into disciplined next steps? They do not show that every country or firm follows the same pattern, or that any particular company needs legal help. Entriva’s interpretation should remain a hypothesis for the firm to assess.
Recommended actions
- Choose a sector, client group or capability that fits the firm’s stated priorities.
- Record a dated public signal, its source, what is known and what remains uncertain.
- Connect the signal to relevant expertise and permitted relationship context; propose an internal review, monitoring step or useful conversation topic.
A public signal is not a confirmed need, buying intent or mandate. The law firm decides whether the hypothesis is relevant, checks conflicts and permissions, and determines if and how to contact anyone. This general information is not legal advice.
